I love heels desperately. On the other hand, what I should admit is that I can not tolerate the exact ache on my feet brought on by sporting large replica louis vuitton Epi bags. I enjoy matching my appreciated large heels with my attractive outfits which can develop a classy appearance; however, the exact ache can be a big issue. I can hardly take twenty steps or so in them since the much more steps I take the exact much more ache I suffer. It’s prevalent for me to change sneakers twice or much more before I finish my ensemble so that you can adjust to the exact unbearable ache induced by sporting them. What’s worse, at times I even can not stay stably in them along with fall down. It is fairly embarrassing along with hazardous.
Are there any solutions that might be produced to solve this issue? You may well ask me this kind of a question. Having a few years of knowledge of sporting large jessica handbags I've identified the exact compromise- choosing boots along with sneakers with wider wedge variety heels. Such sneakers may well not trigger ache or trigger very much less ache even although after sporting them all day extended. What’s much more, they're considerably more stable along with safer to wear since the contact region in between the exact heel plus the ground is very much greater. Though you may well nonetheless feel discomfort on your feet should you wore them for a extended time, I assume attempting heels of wedge heels style is the very best suggestion for you.
Never select sneakers smaller than your standard foot dimension simply because it will be a disaster sporting them. On the other hand, if your shoe dimension are a little greater than you foot dimension, that can be tolerable simply because you feet will slightly swell throughout hot weather. The very supplies which are utilised are very necessary too. It’s true that sneakers produced of soft leather are very much appealing than those produced of challenging along with second-rate leather. Shoes in high quality are constantly considerably more expansive than the exact cheap ones, however the exact comfort is guaranteed which makes them my 1st choice.

High-tech tracking on for man-killing tiger
TNN, Aug 1, 2010, 12.59am IST
LUCKNOW: If not the first ever, it is at least a rare practice of high-tech tracking of a man-killing tiger that Pilibhit forest officials have taken up. The forest department is getting help from the wildlife organisations which are providing the department the needed expertise and the `cameras' which can incessantly click for 60-odd days.
The sub-adult tiger which made its first killing on May 3 and latest on July 27 has been lying inactive for past some days. Jamuna Prasad of Dilawarpur village in Ghundchai beat of Deoria range of Pilibhit forest division was killed by the man-eater on July 27.
On Saturday, forest department decided to change the position of eight web cameras which were installed at the killing sites on July 25. "We will now install cameras every 2 km," said divisional forest officer (DFO) Pilibhit VK Singh. The entire Deoria range of 712 sqkm will be divided into 25 grids, each of four sqkm area. A camera will be installed at every grid to locate the tiger.
It was on July 25 that the tiger was clicked by the cameras. It has remained elusive since then though it struck again two days after. The cameras click automatically moment the animal passes by. Every two days the camera trappings are downloaded. The trappings so far have given some clue on the tiger. "It is not at all injured but we cannot say what is making it to kill men," said DFO.
The tiger since May 3 has killed five men and preyed on them partially. It struck on June 7 and 23 and July 25 and 27. However, all the victims had gone to the forest as their bodies were recovered from about 5 km inside the forest area. This is, in fact, the reason why the forest officials are hesitant to brand the big cat a `man-eater'.
Though tiger is not compulsively seeking a human prey, vigil is on in the area to trap it before it makes another kill. The precautionary measures will be followed during the monsoon period. The villagers who enter the forest will be treated as tresspassers. On Saturday, two tresspassers were caught by the forest staff.
An awareness campaign too is underway in the area. Villagers are being informed about the tiger's presence and the precautions they should take.

“Skin Trade,” the independent film that exposes the cruel practices of the fur industry and the role it plays in contemporary fashion held two star-studded California premieres – one in Los Angeles and another in San Francisco. The documentary that began its nationwide tour earlier this year is still going strong.
“Skin Trade” takes viewers on a journey from the birth of the fur industry to its present day use in fashion. The film combines excerpts from hundreds of hours of interviews by well-known animal advocates and actual footage of the process innocent animals endure in the name of making humans look pretty.
The documentary is the brainchild of award-winning filmmaker Shannon Keith. Keith is an animal rights lawyer and founder of a non-profit organization called Animal, Rescue, Media and Education (ARME.) Her goal was to “understand what makes this savage industry tick and what it will take to change it.”
Shannon Keith had this to say to the Los Angeles Times, “I just could not believe that people were still wearing fur. I knew it was high time to make this film because these animals are being tortured alive- -it’s not a pretty thing.”
“Skin Trade” Reveals the Industry’s Most Blatant Lies about Fur
Although there are very graphic scenes, Skin Trade tries to educate the public about how they have been deceived by the fur and fashion industry. For example, the fur industry has stated that it switched to humane methods of euthanizing animals when that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The documentary shows animals being electrocuted or beaten to death and even some that are skinned for their fur while they are alive.
The movie also dispels the latest myth from the Canada Fur Council that calls the industry “green” because animal skins are biodegradable. Actor Ed Begley Jr. pulls in the reigns on that lie by showing the enormous amount of toxic chemicals used to process an animal skin or pelt. “It’s anything but green,” said Begley Jr.
“Skin Trade” also tackles the myth of faux-fur, revealing that many of the products are actually made from dogs. And NBA player John Salley addresses the use of fur by hip-hop stars as a status symbol. “They’re literally putting on an image, and the image is ‘I’ve made it,’ “said Salley.
Many other celebrated anti-fur individuals lent their time and expertise to the film. Some of these included Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-Ohio), environmental attorney Jan Schlichtmann, designer Todd Oldham, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk, Overstock.com chief Patrick Byrne and actors Alexandra Paul, James Cromwell and Jorja Fox.
The documentary will soon complete its tour, but private showings can be arranged at the ARME website and individuals can order the DVD online. Actor and animal activist James Cromwell summed up the future of the fur industry this way. “We have a choice. The question is, ‘Will human beings make the choice?’ Just choose. Choose, and it ends.”

Lions always like a good chew-toy!
http://www.thedailytail.com/pictures/now-whos-gonna-change-the-tire/
George Schaller, 77, is recognised by many as the world’s pre-eminent field biologist. He has studied wildlife in Asia, Africa and South America for more than 50 years. National Geographic conferred it’s Lifetime Achievement Award upon him in 2007; he is also the winner of several other prestigious awards. His studies have helped protect animals as diverse as the mountain gorilla, giant panda, lion and the Tibetan antelope. His work inspired the foundation of over 20 parks and preserves worldwide. Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Shey-Phoksundo National Park in Nepal, and the Chang Tang Nature Reserve in Tibet are some of them.
We are all aware of the basic environmental problems affecting our small planet. These range from habitat destruction, water shortage, and extinction of species to pollution of air, water and land to climate change. Governments and news media serve the economy and tend to forget that everything we make, buy and use is wholly dependent on nature. The Earth is a living organism with soil, sea, air, life, sunlight and others all interacting in a way that makes us wholly dependent on natural systems for survival. Yet we have been destroying our environment at an ever-accelerating rate. We have been living off the earth’s capital rather than the interest. Therefore, as Al Gore noted, “we must make the rescue of the environment the central organising principle for civilisation.”
This must involve everyone. Every personal act is also an ecological act, whether we drive a car, plant maize, write an essay on paper or computer, flick on a light. “When drinking a glass of water, think of the source,” states a Chinese proverb. Why save some species, insignificant or otherwise? We know that nature remains a supermarket for new foods, just as it is a pharmacy for new drugs. Every species is a genetic storehouse for the future. We still know little about ecology, about the function of individual species. We have no idea how many species you can lose before the whole system collapses. Human survival — even if promoted by self-interest — seems like a good argument for saving our biological diversity, for leaving future generations with options.
Population growth is a critical issue for the world, but consumption of resources has a much steeper upward curve. However, it should be remembered that globalisation was already active in the 1800s. The British exported wheat to the UK for profit during the great Indian drought of 1890-1910 while thousands of people there starved to death.
Certainly all countries are now fully aware of issues, but environmental concerns remain peripheral to most. Denmark has made a major effort to reduce its carbon footprint, China has had a logging ban in effect since 1998 and has established many nature reserves, Costa Rica has good forest management practices involving local communities, and Rwanda has done a superb job of protecting its mountain gorillas. There are many success stories, large and small, but certain issues — such as the related one, climate change and depletion of fresh water — have barely been addressed. About one-third of fresh water in irrigation canals is lost mainly to evaporation. Over 2,000 years ago, the Afghan civilisation had the sense to cover the canals they built.
We have treated clean air, clean water, fertile soils as free public resources to do with as we want, pollute, degrade, destroy. There is no free lunch. We now have to pay the price. If we want to protect a watershed to assure clean water to those living downstream, those who give up some resource for the common good will have to be paid. If we set up a reserve to protect wildlife, the communities who have traditionally used the resources for fuel, roof thatch and others will have to be paid. It is called “payment for ecosystem services”.
Similarly, companies that pollute air and water must pay. Money? If governments spent a fraction of the billions that they do on armaments and unnecessary wars, there would be ample funds to pay for truly keeping our planet healthy, beautiful, and productive. Industry and agriculture must become far more innovative, productive, and efficient. In addition, the task is to shape new attitudes and create a new design in the strategy of surviving on a crowded planet and still maintaining the full diversity of life. Gandhi said, “There is enough in the world for everyone’s need but not enough for everyone’s greed.”
We know that small reserves cannot preserve widely roaming species, and, in fact, all species — plant and animal — are at risk from inbreeding or catastrophic events such as hurricanes. There is need to think of conservation on a landscape basis with areas designated for human use, core areas strictly protected as reservoirs for plants and animals, and corridors connecting core areas. To manage such a landscape will take the co-operation of government, scientists, industry, and importantly, the local communities. It is a difficult task. If solutions in conservation were easy they would have been adopted long ago.
Field biologists cannot do conservation: They can mainly gather knowledge, try to educate, and prod governments to enact policies and implement action. Furthermore, conservation is based to a large extent on values other than economic — on religious, aesthetic, nationalistic, and other moral values, depending on the culture. It comes from the heart. People don’t preserve the giant panda or tiger because these animals represent biodiversity but because they touch the emotions.
The Hindus have sacred groves and sacred animals. Buddhist principles include respect and compassion for all living beings. Islam says, “Allah loveth not wasters.” All cultures have a feeling of goodwill toward the environment, but the ideas have to be rekindled. Most leaders have been lax about that. Indira Gandhi was an exception, and among today’s religious leaders His Highness the Dalai Lama is a forceful voice for conservation. There are two major reasons for killing animals — for subsistence and for profit, the two often going together. Why were tigers lost from India’s Sariska and Panna reserves? Because of underpaid, indifferent, and negligent guards. That is relatively easy for the government to correct if it has the interest to save this iconic animal. Much of the poaching and smuggling of tiger skins and bones to China is now by organised gangs. India is notorious for its slow legal system and minimal fines for wildlife crime. China, by contrast, is quick and strict in its legal procedures, one reason panda poaching was greatly reduced. The killing of Tibetan antelope or chiru — for its fine wool that is smuggled to Kashmir to be woven into expensive shahtoosh shawls — carries often a jail sentence of about five to 15 years. With more rigorous protection, the killing decreased after the 1990s and the numbers are now on the increase. A good guard force is the key to wildlife protection. Tigers and leopards will prey less on livestock if the forest contains ample natural prey, a good reason for reducing poaching of deer and other species. Villagers could modify herding practices of their cattle to reduce predation, barriers could be constructed to deter elephants, and in certain instances there could be compensation for damages. Conservationists are still grappling with such issues, trying to find solutions that benefit both the wildlife and the livelihood of people.
Having done wildlife field research for nearly six decades, I don’t deal in optimism and hope but in persistence. I have fought on behalf of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska (whose heart the oil companies want to destroy) and mountain gorillas for half a century, and have spoken up on behalf of tigers and pandas for three to four decades. Conservation is not a goal but a never-ending process, one in which everyone has to be involved. As Gandhi noted, “You have to be the change you want to see in the world.”
By using all our wisdom, knowledge, passion, perseverance, dedication, and ever-lasting commitment, we can retain the beauty and health of our planet.
After all, it is the only home we shall ever have.
This is just a thought that I had but I find all people ever do is talk about global warming I don't see world leaders (or regular people) taking much action to stop global warming all they ever do is talk about it. I think were all aware of the problem but it seems to me everyone is getting worried and talking about how it must be stopped but then they never do anything. What are your thoughts?
| 10 Facts about White Lions |
| Sunday, 19 August 2007 08:30 |
1. White Lions are not albinos, but a genetic rarity unique to one endemic region on the globe: the Timbavati region. 2. The Genetic Marker that makes White Lions unique has not yet been identified by science. 3. The White Lions are currently classified under the general species classification Panthera leo, although this is likely to change after the genetic research undertaken by the Global White Lion Protection Trust reveals important reasons for sub-speciation of this rare phenotype. 4. The earliest recorded sighting of white lions in the Timbavati region was in 1938. However, the oral records of African elders indicate that these unique animals survived in this region for many centuries. 5. The unique white lion gene is carried by certain of the tawny coloured lions in the region, and white cubs occurred in numerous prides in the region. 6. Since their discovery by the West, white lions and those lions carrying the unique gene have been hunted, and forcibly removed from their natural endemic habitat. 7. The last white lion was seen in the wild in 1994, after which time they were technically extinct in the wild. 8. The idea that white lions are genetically inferior to ordinary tawny lions has not been scientifically tested. 9. The idea that White Lions cannot survive in the wild due to perceived lack of camouflage has not been scientifically tested. 10. Currently, there is no law nationally or internationally that protects the White Lions from being wiped off the face of the earth. |
I thought this was interesting, although not surprising when you stop to think.
http://www.scientificamerican.com/podcast/episode.cfm?id=bigger-animals-keep-a-stiff-lower-f-10-03-01
"Big cats or wolves seem like scaled-up versions of the tabby or terrier sleeping on your sofa. But the proportions do subtly change as animals get larger. For one thing, big animals’ feet are smaller relative to their bodies than are smaller beasts’. But they compensate with physics, according to new research in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface. [see: http://bit.ly/cDdbUx]
When we think about animal locomotion…whether it’s walking, running, or just standing around…we usually focus on the bones and muscles in the legs and feet. But for four-legged critters, it’s the footpads that ultimately support the animal’s weight. So scientists [Kai-Jung Chi, National Chung-Hsing University, Republic of China (Taiwan) and V. Louise Roth, Duke University] decided to take a closer look at these “natural shoes” in different-sized carnivores, including dogs, cats, wolves, leopards and hyenas.
And they found that the relatively smaller footpads of, say, leopards are much stiffer than those of little bitty kitties. Apparently so that the big cats’ feet can handle the stress of the greater body weight. If a tiger’s paws were as soft as a house cat’s, he’d need hippo-sized feet to stand.
It’s said that the bigger they are, the harder they fall. But now we know that the bigger they are, the harder their feet."

I just love this song, that's why I chose it.
Hi Everyone,
The points contest, while it had a few kinks getting rolling, it seems to be effective. It has encouraged many members to surf around and check out the photos, videos and blogs posted by other members. We have seen a dramatic increase in how many comments are being left on members' videos, photos etc. There has also been a huge increase in the amount of members handing out star ratings. This flurry of new activity is truly exciting for us.
There have even been eleven new coloring pages submitted.
SO, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE for participating.
ANNOUNCEMENT:
Starting at 4:00 PM today (Friday, August 21, 2009) we are going to be increasing the amount of points earned on certain activities. We have chosen these activities because they will benefit in the growth and strength of this online community.
Adding Tags: Adding tags to photos, videos, blogs, member profiles etc will greatly help everyone show up in searches now and in the future as this grows. You can add tags to your own items and to those of other members. We do ask that all tags be on the subject of the item. For example, you would not put the tag 'tiger' of a horse photo; you would instead put horse, horses, equine, things like that. Tagging is very important. everyone wants their items to come up in searches on here, so help other members by adding tags to their photos and videos if they haven't had time to it themselves.
Giving Stars: Giving star ratings to photos, videos, blogs etc not only encourages the member who posted them, but also helps new members find the fun stuff. So, we are upping the points earned for giving star ratings.
Comments On Media: When a member takes the time and effort to post a photo, video, blog etc it is always encouraging to know what other members think of it. So to encourage more commenting we are upping the points earned for comments left. PLEASE, keep the comments genuine and on subject. It is more about encouraging each other and communication than it is just getting more points.
Coloring Pages: During the holidays we have some projects planned that will be made more fun for kids by having coloring pages added to them. So to encourage members to create and donate more coloring pages the points for turning in an animal coloring page will be doubled. Visit this page to see coloring pages already turned in: http://www.bigcatfun.com/games/coloring_pages/index.html. PLEASE REMEMBER: we can only use coloring pages that either YOU have drawn free handed or that you have traced from either YOUR OWN animal photos or from our animal photos. We don't want to risk any copyright violations when we use the submitted coloring pages in our animal projects.
Adding Profile Photo: Having a profile photo is fun. To encourage everyone to have a profile photo we are dramatically upping the points for adding a profile photo. If you already have one, HURRAY. If you want to keep it that is awesome, if you want to change it, that is fine too. You can either use your own photos for your profile photo OR you can use some that we have provided for members to use. We will post more over for you to choose from. f you have a favorite animal or a favorite cat at Big Cat Rescue, drop me a message and I'll check our photos and see if we have some of that animal species (about any wild animal we have photos to upload) or of that particular cat that I can upload to the Profile Photo Sharing Section. Here is the link to the profile photos we have posted so far: http://www.bigcatfun.com/free_profile_photos/index.html
Inviting New Members: Being on a site like this is much more fun if your family and personal friends are on it, too. So we are upping the points earned for inviting new people to join www.ChatBigCats.com and are also upping the points earned when those invited people actually signup, login and surf around. IMPORTANT: Please be thoughtful and invite people whom you feel would enjoy this all animal themed online community.
Uploading Animal Videos & Photos: It is always exciting to log in each day and see what new stuff has been posted. So the points earned for animal videos and animal photos being uploaded is going to be upped as well.
Flash Game Distribution: Last but not least, we are adding a point earning category. On our goodies website, www.BigCatFun.com we have begun adding some fun flash games that will promote traffic to our main website www.BigCatRescue.org You can now earn points by helping us distribute these little flash games around the Internet.
If you have your own website and post our flash games on your website you will earn points for each game you post on your website. If you do not have your own website, and you still want to participate in this project, drop me a note and I'll post a list of public websites that allow people to upload flash games to their games galleries.
SO In Summary: After 4:00 PM today, Friday, August 21, 2009, visit this link: http://www.bigcatfun.com/contests/cbc-august-2009.html as by then, I will have updated that page to reflect to new updated point earning list. If you have any questions, please drop me a message.
Endangered Species Act Legacy Pledge
Since 1973, the Endangered Species Act has saved 99 percent of listed species from extinction. It has successfully recovered bald eagles, Yellowstone grizzly bears, gray wolves and whooping cranes to name but a few.
However, this important wildlife conservation law has come under constant assault from members of Congress and the White House over the past few years.
The National Wildlife Federation and conservation groups across the country are working to change this. We are collecting signatures (both online and in person) for the "Endangered Species Act Legacy Pledge." Every few months, we deliver these names directly to your representatives, showing just how much Americans want to protect the Endangered Species Act.
Add your name below!
Join the thousands of people who support the protection of threatened and endangered species. People who believe we owe it to our children and grandchildren to stand up for wildlife, and give them the same wildlife legacy we have been blessed with during our lives.

KINSHIP CIRCLE PRIMARY / PERMISSION TO CROSSPOST
7/13/09- UPDATE: A Chance For Stu!
FULL STORY: Board of Animal Services moves to amend L.A. Code to free Stu!
http://laanimalservicesboardwatch.blogspot.com/2009/07/board-of-animal-services-commissioners.html
Dear Kinship Circle Supporters:
We’ve followed Stu's saga since 2005. Today, the fate of this wrongfully
impounded, non-dangerous dog hinged upon the Los Angeles Board of Animal
Services Commissioners (7/13/09) meeting.
If Stu hadn't made it on today's agenda, his euthanasia date would have
remained 7/23/09 -- as circulated in our last alert: 7/5/09: Stu Dies July
23. Stop Them. Single-custody dog cases are not ordinarily the type issues
covered in KC alerts. Stu is different. His case is so glaringly unjust.
On 6/18/09 we asked you to flood Los Angeles offices with pleas for Stu's
Life. You did. On 7/5/09 we urged you flood 'em again in order to repeal
Stu's 7/23/09 execution date -- despite testimony from acclaimed animal
experts that Stu poses no threat to humans. You did.
Bottom line: As of today, there is no euthanasia date for Stu. Politics run
thick so we can’t claim victory yet. But, things look good for Stu!
“We Win! I Think... Much mention was made of full email boxes and messages
from people all over the world!" Jeff de la Rosa
EDITED FOR LENGTH
Jeff de la Rosa, stu.911@gmail.com -- 7/13/09: The Board convened at about
10:30 and immediately began discussion of Item 3A regarding Stu... The Board
took Public Comment from a large group of concerned citizens, some who
traveled from as far as southern Orange County to support Stu. The Board
requested that no action to "euthanize" Stu be taken at this time. At 11:05
the Board withdrew to consult with Assistant City Attorney Laurie
Rittenberg, the supervising attorney on Stu's court cases.
The Board did not return until past 12:30 p.m. at which time, Commissioner
Riordan introduced a motion that the Board make recommendations to L.A. City
Council to amend the Los Angeles Municipal Code section covering "dangerous"
Dogs... Commissioner Riordan stressed that the amendment be retroactive to
cover Stu's case...and it passed 4-0...
WHAT THIS MEANS: At a subsequent public meeting (presumably July 27, 2009),
the Board will actually make a recommendation to City Council to amend the
code in order to give the Board the power to reverse a general manager's
decision AFTER the appeal had been finalized. I take this to mean that the
Board, once empowered by the code change, intends to remove the "dangerous"
designation from Stu which would allow the Board to send him home under
reasonable terms and conditions for his care and control.
I'm a little frazzled by the whole thing because it doesn't seem real. I'm
encouraged, but I will believe it when I see it. This could take months or
weeks or the Council could refuse to the amend the code...
NOTE: If any of you have called the Department and have comments about
conversations you have had regarding the case that you'd like to share with
Kate Woodviolet (Kate wrote the 2 Examiner.com pieces that launched this
newest surge public support), please contact her woodviolet9@hotmail.com
