"Pet Enrichment Contest"

The theme of this contest will be "Enriching the Lives of Pets" .

You can make a HOW TO video or slide show about for example a safe play yard for a bunny you got for Easter. Show how to build a safe play yard for your bunny and explain why it is good to let them out of their cages to run and play in a safe play yard for a while each day.

Another example would be to make a video or slide show about making your home safe for your puppy or kitten.

Another example would be a video or slide show about how important flea prevention on your pets is. A how to and why to 'manual'.

Another example would be to video your pet getting a check up at the vet's office and why that is important.

Do you take your dog for a walk regularly? How about a video about how to and why to take you dog for a walk?

Does your dog or cat have a favorite trick? How did you teach it to them?

Does you dog play Frisbee, if so do a video or pictures and explain why or how this makes your dog's life better.

Does you cat like to find a ball of yard and chase it? That play certainly enriches (makes better) the life of your cat. So make a video about why it is important to give your pet safe things to play with?

Does your puppy like to chew on chew toys or chew bones? How about a video about why puppies chew and why it is important for their developing teeth to have proper things to chew on?

How about a How To Potty Train your puppy or kitten video?

Do you have a parakeet and does it like to look at itself in a bird safe mirror? Does it like birdie music tapes? Does it like new and interesting toys? (Make sure they are safe).

Have you built a special First Aide kit for your pet? Explain how and why this makes your pet's life better.

Use your imagination and make sure that no animals are harmed in any way in the making of your videos or slide shows.

The purpose of this contest is to find things that make your pet's life better, physically, mentally and or emotionally.

Start planning now. Think, plan, ask questions and prepare.

Uploads for the contest will begin on Saturday April 5th not before and end on May 5th.

!! There will be some really great prizes on this contest !!

Maybe some of you could even work together helping others. By this I mean, not all of you have access to a video camera or video making software. Maybe you can help each other find free sideshow making software or maybe help each other come with ideas or ways of showcasing those ideas.

That sounds like lots of fun! I have a question- would one about why adopting from animal shelters is important qualify? So, it would be a "How To Adopt an Animal", with information on how adoption works, that it's a lifelong commitment, etc.

Animal shelters are a great way to not only adopt a new best friend, but to also help animals all at the same time!

If not, I have LOADS of ideas, so that's okay if it doesn't :D

I LOVE this idea! YOU GO GIRL! There are many many angles you could go with that idea. Enter as many times as you want! With your insight and passion for animals, I have no doubt you will dream up something! Talk it over with your parents and then give that camera a work out.

My computer is freezing up and won't let me respond below, so I'm posting here... (it's not a problem with BigCatChat, it's just my computer being weird)...

You're welcome! It's not problem, I know a lot of people haven't gotten the chance to got to Big Cat Rescue yet :) And some don't have pets, so they'd need some pictures/video! This is a great contest, I can't wait to see the fantastic entries you get!

We'd be happy to have you join us. This contest is for everyone, whether you own a pet or not.

Think up ways (make sure they are safe) to enrich a pet's life. That can be bath tips,health care tips or how to, toys to play with, general care, emotional care.... You name it if it makes a pet's life better it is worthy to enter in this contest.

I don't think I'll be able to enter.. for some reason, Sony Vegas (the software I use) isn't letting me render the project as WMV or AVI... it keeps freezing! I think I may be low on memory on my computer, so that could be the problem I'm not sure.

I'll see if I can get it to work though! I hope I can =)

Hi, if your program doesnt render it to the file you want, may be you can let it redner into it's format, and get a video converter that can converte it. I use a cool program called Any Video Converter. It can convert anything like FLV. WMV. AVI. MPEG. and others. Though AVI is to big of a file, and won't upload to this site. If you have any other questions about it, you can message me.

Try to see if you can create the video in another program... The one I use is Windows Movie Maker. It works really well, It will just take like 30min. or so, depending how big the video is.
